Sunil Narine pulls off from World Cup squad

A cricket world cup without two of the best spinners in the world is something like a winter season without a bit of chill in it. Well you can’t just do anything. You have to bear with it.

It all began with Saeed Ajmal being accused of faulty action in one of the matches few months back. After that almost all the spinners were put under Sunil Narine pulls off from World Cup squadthe scanner for their actions. Sunil Narine was also not an exception and as he was at fault with his action he was temporarily banned from bowling. For that he had to sit out of the Champions League T20 final in which he could have turned out to be a deciding factor. But that was something different. At least it was not of the stature of the Cricket world cup which comes in after every four years and it’s always a dream for a player to represent his or her respective nation in this tournament.

But this time it’s the cricket world Cup. Sunil Narine had been to the rehab centre over the last few months to get his action corrected. In fact he has made a comeback to domestic cricket. But he has now opted out of the game’s biggest stage. According to a statement released by the West Indies Cricket Board, Narine is not confident enough regarding his bowling action and that he needs more time settle the issue. “Narine has undergone intense remedial work on his bowling action and preliminary tests have shown him bowling all his deliveries under the 15 degrees flexion allowance. However he requires more time to be able to confidently bowl for a sustained period in international cricket with his new action.”

Narine also said, “Playing for red Force and winning the NAGICO Super50 has been a big boost, but going in to the World Cup is a bit too much too soon and after consulting the WICB, for both West Indies and my sake we have decided to delay my return to international cricket until I am 100% confident in all that I do.” He added, “Whilst I am very happy with the progress made to date with my action and I express my thanks to the coaches working with me in Trinidad and Dr. Daryl Foster in Perth, Australia, I am withdrawing from the world cup.”

This will certainly take away lot of actions from the world cup leaving apart the fact that West Indies team will be weakened with this incident. Already without Dwayne bravo and Kieron Pollard, the WI squad doesn’t look good on paper. And with Narine pulling out of the tournament it will be a huge task on hand for the Carribeans to make their presence felt in the tournament.
