Colombia has it easy against Greece

Colombia kicked off their world cup campaign in style as they beat Greece comfortably at the Bello Horizonte. The score at the end of the match read 3-0 at the end of the 90 minutes in favour of the South Americans.

The Colombians made a blistering start as they opened the scoring as early as in the 5th minute of the match when Pablo Armero’s shot was deflected over the goal line. The rest of the first 45 minutes went goal less as both teams played cautiously with occasional attacks.

The second half began almost in the same fashion until the 60th minute when Guttierez found the back from a flagkick to double Colombia’s lead over Greece. The Greeks came agonizingly close to lower the deficit within Colombia beat Greece 3-0 in FIFA world cupfew minutes of conceding the second goal when Theofanis Gekas hit the crossbar with a diving header. Colombia added the third of the night in the dying minutes of the match when James Rodriguez hit the net with a low drive.

In the end it was an easy outing for the Colombians in spite of the absence of Falcao. It seemed that the hot and humid Brazilian condition took its toll over the Greeks as they failed to hold on to their pace towards the end of the match which handed over the steering of the match into the hands of Colombia.
