Arsenal suffer shock defeat

Swansea City gave arsenal a taste of some clinical football on a Sunday-afternoon clash in their home ground as they beat the Gunners 2-1 in their home ground. It was arsenal’s second defeat in the season after they had tasted defeat in the hands of Chelsea earlier in the season.

Arsenal made a good start in the crucial away match but Swansea tried to hit them on the counter. Neither of the teams managed to break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, arsenal’s new signing Arsenal suffer shock defeatAlexis Sanchez made it 1-0 in the 63rd minute for the visitors. Swansea remained cool even after conceding and kept their composure. They equalized in the 75th minute from a beautifully taken free-kick by Sigurdsson which curled in beating the keeper quite comfortably. Three minutes later Gomis gave the home team the second goal of the day with his first touch of the ball in the match. Gomis had just come in as a substitute in place of Wilfred Bony and Montero sent in a cross targeting Gomis in the middle of the arsenal penalty area. Gomis made no mistake to make it 2-1 with a perfectly placed and perfectly timed header and the stadium just erupted in sheer jubilation.

With this defeat Arsenal saw them pushed down to the 6th spot in the league table just ahead of Manchester United while Swansea made it to the 5th spot. It came as a shock as arsenal never looked like conceding before they eventually did.

In other matches Tottenham Hotspurs suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Britannia stadium against Stoke city. Newcastle United however maintained their recent great run with a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion. Everton and Sunderland had their encounter finished on level terms with both teams scoring one goal each.
