AIBA suspends Sarita Devi

The International Boxing Association has temporarily suspended Laishram Sarita Devi following her refusal to accept bronze medal at the recently concluded Asian Games in Incheon in South Korea. She was protesting her

forceful loss in the semi-finals against local boxer Ji-Na Park.

Along with Sarita Devi, the AIBA also suspended her coaches Gurbakhsh Singh Sandhu, Blas Iglesias Fernandez and Sagar Mal Dhayal. It has suspended Adille J Sumariwalla – Indian chef-de-mission for the Asian Games too.

The decision came after AIBA’s Executive Committee meet on Tuesday. With this decision Sarita Devi will not to be allowed to participate at AIBA competitions until further decision.
