Marin Cilic clinches US Open men’s title

Croatia’s Marin Cilic has won his first grand slam title at Flushing Meadows on Monday, beating Japanese Kei Nishikori who was the first Asian man to reach any grand slam final.

Cilic, who crashed Roger Federer in the semis, won the match 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in less than 2-hour clash. He served remarkably with 17 aces.

The 14th-seeded Cilic is the first man to win his title on debut final match since 1997

After upsetting world number one Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, there was lot of expectation from Nishikori. But the Asian had no answer to 6-foot-6 inch Cilic’s powerplay.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
