Scott Thompson Will Be The New Yahoo CEO

Scott Thompson, the president of PayPal – eBay’s online payment service,  will  be the next CEO of Yahoo. Thompson will take charge on January 9. Current interim CEO Tim Morse will return to his original position as  CFO.

Since Carol Bartz’s exit from the company in September Yahoo has been without any permanent CEO.

Besides playing role as president of PayPal, previously Thompson has also served the post of PayPal’s senior vice president and chief technology officer.

Surely a very tough task is waiting for Scott Thompson as Yahoo has been struggling for last few years and losing ground quickly to rivals like Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

Yahoo’s board is also considering the possibilities of selling some or  all part of the company.
