In the latest developments in the Paris attacks that took place last year causing many casualties and incurring heavy losses and lives, Salah Abdeslam, one of the prime suspects in who was arrested in Belgium last week, is “worth his weight in gold” to investigators, his lawyer has stated recently, in his statement to the media.

“He is collaborating… He is not maintaining his right to remain silent,” said his advocate Sven Mary. Abdeslam, 26, was captured in an urgent raid, on an apartment in Brussels and is currently being interrogated by police. He is said to be the only surviving participant in the attacks in police custody.
However, Mr Mary has denied the constant media reports/rumours that Abdeslam would become an informer in return for more lenient treatment.
Abdeslam, a Belgian-born French national nicknamed as Europe’s ‘most-wanted fugitive’, is fighting extradition to France.
In other key developments:
-The French President Francois Hollande did meet the kith and kin of some of the deceased killed in the gruesome attacks.
-Belgium’s federal prosecutor stated that the officials had made progress but were “still far from solving the puzzle” of the Paris attacks
Abdeslam’s advocate has previously publicly threatened to sue French investigator Francois Molins for telling to the media that Abdeslam had apparently ‘wanted to blow himself up along with other attackers but he changed his mind.’ Mary said that this was enraging and nothing more than serious violation of confidentiality and breach.
Also, still being sought is Mohamed Abrini, who was filmed at petrol stations with Abdeslam, just two days prior to the attacks.
