A day after BJP officially refused to form the next Delhi government, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has invited second largest party, Aam Aadmi Party to form the government.
Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi has said that his party may consider supporting AAP to form the government.
“It is under consideration”, Rahul told reporters.
But, AAP has already rejected Congress offer saying they will not form the government with support from either Congress or BJP.
Last evening BJP chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan met Najeeb Jung and declined to stake the claim saying they are short of majority.
“I have informed Najeeb Jung about my views, we don’t have the numbers and we are four short of majority and hence we won’t form the government,” Harsh Vardhan said adding, “It is better that we sit in opposition and continue to work for the betterment of the people. We will form government only after we get a clear mandate.”
In the recently concluded Delhi elections for 70-member assembly, BJP got 32 seats, AAP won 28 and Congress managed 8 seats, 2 seats went to independent candidates.
With no party wants to form the government, it seems Delhi is heading for President’s Rule before going ahead with another election.
