After Rahul, Modi too refuses to meet US delegation

After Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi cancelled his meeting with the visiting US delegation over the Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade’s arrest, Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi too refused to meet the US delegation in protest of misbehaving with Indian diplomat in US.

Earlier Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon too refused to meet a visiting US congressional delegation.

India is unhappy the way India’s deputy consul general in New York Devyani Khobragade was harassed and arrested.

Media reports suggesting that Khobragade was “strip-searched” after her arrest in New York, fueled anger in India against US behavior.

India already lodged its protest with US Ambassador Nancy Powell and conveyed that this type of behavior from US “absolutely unacceptable”.
