Mamata Banerjee says SFI leader’s death ‘unfortunate’West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday condemned the tragic death of 23-year-old SFI leader Sudipta Gupta saying it was “unfortunate”.

“Any death is unfortunate. This is also unfortunate. I will not say anything more than this,” Ms. Banerjee told reporters.

She did not said anything on judicial inquiry by the CPI(M).

The chief minister had visited the hospital where Sudipta Gupta’s body was kept amidst slogans against her vby SFI workers.

CPI (M) has claimed that Sudipta’s death was due to police lathicharge, while police is saying the death was an accident from fell off the bus.

“My son was beaten to death. Is it justice? I was a central government employee. I get pension. I cannot accept any money. It is against my principle. She is offering me money, but can she return my son?”  Sudipta Gupta’s father Pronob Kumar Gupta said.

Meanwhile police has arrested the bus driver and the conductor in which the SFI leader along with SFI activists were being taken away.
