Infights in BJP, party faces embarrassment

Internal fights in BJP’s Gujarat unit has now come in public causing deep embarrassment to the party. Rajesh Ayare, one of BJP’s councillors, has been suspended. He was accused of motivating a crowd to throw stones during a function in which finance minister Saurabh Patel had participated.

On Monday, the stone laying ceremony for a housing complex was being conducted in Gotri, Vadodra. This incident took place then. Localites had gathered at the venue and as soon as Saurabh Patel arrived, stones were pelted at him. The deputy mayor of Vadodara, Sunita Shukla was injured during the scene.

This event brought powerful tension between Patel and other MLAs in the city. Ayare has been accused of planning and executing the whole incident.

Some participants of BJP in Vadodra say that some of the senior elected members of the party had incited Ayare to make the incident happen. The minister had guided the local leaders to a wrong way since the time he moved out of the Bhavnagar constituency in 2012.

Saurabh Patel (56) was considered Narendra Modi’s closest aide during the 2014 elections. Patel used to manage Modi’s campaign whenever Modi was absent. Rumours were that Patel would move to Delhi after Modi became Prime Minister.

A BJP leader said,””His dealing with workers have always been a cause for concern among the cadre, even when he was an MLA from Botad. It was this discontent that had forced him to seek a relocation to Akota in Vadodara during 2012.”

Patel is an MBA graduate and is the son-in-law of Ramnikbhai Ambani, the elder brother of late Dhirubhai Ambani.
