Arun Jaitley slams SP for boycotting Lokpal Bill debate

Leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley today slams Samajwadi Party for their stand of opposing Lokpal Bill. While speaking at the Rajya Sabha on the Lokpal Bill Arun Jaitley said his party BJP wants a credible Lokpal which can battle against the corruption.

lokpal debateSupporting the Lokpal Bill, Jaitley said,”We must all strive together to pass this landmark Bill.”

He also said that there is scope for improvement in the proposed law.

“It is important to have Lokayuktas in all states too,” Jaitley said.

Taking a dig at Samajwadi Party Jaitly said, “Political situation has changed, so has the government’s mindset. Samajwadi Party not right in its apprehensions, leaders will be more cautious now in their decisions.”

“At times we need to rise above political lines. Government has decided to accept recommendations made by the select committee. It is in the best interest of the nation. I strongly recommend it,” he added.

Beginning the debate, Union Minister Kapil Sibal explained key features of the Lokpal Bill and said, “Never before in the history of this country was a bill debated so widely.”
