HAMID ANSARI REJECTS MALLYA’S RESIGNATION

On the charges of “conduct unbecoming of an MP”, business tycoon Vijay Mallya has landed himself into a trouble in an attempt to escape from punitive action by expulsion. Vice President, Hamid Ansari rejected his resignation as a Member of Parliament on technical grounds.

This implies serious trouble for Mr Mallya, as on Tuesday, the ethics committee of Rajya Sabha had recommended that he should be expelled. A report on the scrutiny is tabled for the upper house but has not been sent to the chair. Thus, the members can push for expulsion issue soon.

Though his second term as lawmaker ends in June, expulsion will now mean an embarrassment for him. Mallya allegedly flew to London on March 2, days after a consortium of banks moved BSC against him for remittance of over Rs. 9,000 crore of unpaid loans. Last week the ethics committee had mailed him a letter to expel him and had sought his comments. Reportedly, he reverted brusquely saying that he didn’t expect a fair trial.

In his resignation letter to the chairman of the upper house he had said that he didn’t want the house to any further “drag his name and reputation to mud.” He had written: “Since recent events suggest that I won’t get a fair trial and justice, I hereby resign as a Member of Parliament with immediate effect.”

The government has already suspended Mallya’s diplomatic passport.

And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
