PM Modi urges people to fight poverty together

Breaking his silence on recent Dadri incident where a Muslim man was killed over rumours of consuming beef, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged the people to fight against poverty and intolerance and not get into communal fight.

Addressing an election rally in Nawada, Bihar, Modi said people must follow President Pranab Mukherkjee’s words on maintaining India’s core values of diversity and tolerance.

“Hindus and Muslims should work together to fight poverty and not against each other. The country has to stay united. Only communal harmony and brotherhood will take the nation forward,” Modi said.

“Hear the speech of President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday. There can be no bigger thought that that. President has shown us the way, and we have to walk on that path. Only then will we be able to live up to the expectations of the world,” he added.

President Pranab Mukherjee earlier said that Indian civilization has bloomed due to ‘core civilisational values and adherence to them.’

“Core values of diversity, tolerance and plurality must be kept in mind, we cannot allow these values of India’s civilisation to be given a slip,” Pranab Mukherjee had said.
