BJP Mins racist remark surrounds him with criticism

For Mr Singh it would have been a comical and trivial remark, but little must he have known what turmoil would it result in. BJP Minister Giriraj Singh’s remark on the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi, landed him into a ground surrounded by wide criticism. His racist comment on the two, triggered a row, so massive that the minister was forced to express his regret on it.

After Singh’s remark grabbed headlines and soon turned into a widely talked about controversy, party sources claimed, as reported by the PTI, that the party president Amit Shah called up Singh and made it clear to him that “such language” was not acceptable.

Congress ministers went red over Singh’s remarks and demanded the Prime Minister to intervene, dismiss Singh and apologize to the nation.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Thursday, called the Singh’s comment “uncultured”, by claiming further that the party rewards those who indulge in making such remarks. “Talk which is considered to be wrong and condemnable in society, when such things are said… the matter does not remain confined to the person who has said it, it is a reflection on the entire party and government as to what their thought process is,” said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as quoted by the Financial Express.

Saying that Singh should be treated in the same way, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said, “This man (Singh) should be treated the same way as JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav was when he made objectionable remarks on the skin colour of women. It (such comments) can only be made by Singh and those who are members of RSS.”

Even as the criticism for Singhs remarks poured in, a BJP leader told PTI that the Congress leaders have been using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and none of them, including Congress President Sonia Gandhi, have apologised ever.

This is not the first time when a BJP minister has made shameful comments. In the past, there had been a havoc when BJP MP’s Sakshi Maharaj and Yogi Adityanath, and Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had made similar shocking statements.
