Punjab and Haryana HC cancels ‘godman’ Rampal’s bail

 

Punjab and Haryana high court today cancelled self-styled ‘godman’ Rampal’s bail in 2006 murder case.

The Haryana police today produced godman, who is now facing around 35 cases, in the court. Rampal has been facing fresh charges of sedition, attempt to murder, rioting and illegal detention.

Earlier this morning he was medically examined in Chandigarh. Last night police was finally arrested him from the Satlok Ashram in Hisar amidst drama and violence.

At least six people including five women and one child were killed in the chaos after Rampal refused to surrender to police and deployed armed security force to fight with the police. Police also arrested many of his close aids including his brother and son and also around 450 supporters were held.

Senior police officers, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Haryana Police personnel entered the ashram complex Wednesday evening and Rampal was arrested around 9.15pm.

The bench comprising of Justices M Jeyapaul and Darshan Singh issued immediate arrest order of the godman the contempt case.

Rampal, however, claimed that all cases against him are false.

“All allegations against me are false and fabricated,” he said.
