In response to opposition attack on Black Money issue, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said that bringing back black money is more important and than making it an issue between the NDA vs UPA.

“It is good to see that everyone wants to see work done on the issue of black money,” the FM said, adding, “In next few weeks, more prosecution cases will be filed; once the cases go for prosecution, names will become public.”

“The issue is not whether to disclose the names of black money account holders or not, but when and how to disclose them,” Jaitley said. “Notice were sent to all the account holders and out of 427 names 250 have admitted to having an account.”

“In June, we handed over whatever details we had in the black money case to the two judges heading the SIT,” Arun Jaitley said.

“If we indulge in a populist and adventurist stance, it will help the black money account holders,” he replied to opposition accusation that government was not serious in naming the black money holders.

Earlier in the debate, former union minister Anand Sharma said, “The country has been misled… a promise was made to bring back black money within 100 days… there was politics to acquire power by tarnishing the ruling government.”

Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The Government said there were 50 names, didn’t reveal them. The NDA questions our integrity, what about theirs?”

Kharge demanded the BJP to “apologise for lying to the country.”
The Trinamool Congress, which has introduced umbrella protest in the house accused the government of ‘bluffing’.

“You are all bluffmaster… you have no intention to bring the money back. All false promises,” Derek O’Brien said.

Later opposition parties walked out, saying they were not satisfied with finance minister’s responses.
