It is Devendra Fadnavis’ day in Mumbai

Devendra Fadnavis to take oath as Maha CM; security tightened; celebrities to attend the ceremony.

Friday has finally dawned and preparations in Wankhede Stadium are almost done. Today, Devendra Fadnavis will be taking oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This is the first time BJP is forming a government, and the state is witnessing a non-congress government after about a decade. So, the level of excitement is quite high among BJP supporters, leaders and party workers, to welcome the first Chief Minister from their party.

Bollywood art director Nitin Desai is appointed by the BJP to beautify the stadium for this event. Nitin Desai was quoted by Indian Express as saying: “Fadnavis will take his oath while paying tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji. A visual of the Vidhan Bhavan and the Raigad Fort will be projected side by side.”

Ahead of this ceremony, the security arrangements at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium have been stiffened. 2500 policemen have been deployed in the stadium to ensure safety and prevent any complications.

Additional Commissioner of Police (South) Krishna Prasad told PTI: “Under the supervision of city Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, about 2,500 security personnel, including those of Mumbai Police, Special Protection Group (SPG) and Quick Response Teams, will maintain a strict surveillance during the ceremony.”

Apart from this, the Bomb detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) with the dog squad, has been carrying out regular checks in the stadium. Police have also installed ‘nakabandis’ at the city’s entry points.

NJP’s top brass will be attending this swearing-in ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too, will be there at Wankhede Stadium to witness it. Lal Krishna Advani, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Union Ministers, BJP Chief Ministers from other states, industrialists and Bollywood celebrities are expected to attend this ceremony, according to Mumbai police.

So clearly it is going to be a grand ceremony in the city, with elite and eminent people attending it. For BJP it is an important day, and for Mr Fadnavis – it is a memorable day!
