Rifts in Aam Aadmi Party; Shanti Bhushan criticises Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership has come under serious threat as senior founding member and former Law Minister Shanti Bhushan criticises Kejriwal’s style of functioning.

The 89-year-old Shanti Bhushan has been acted as mentor to the newly formed party since its formation in 2012.

“Arvind (Kejriwal) is a great leader and a great campaigner, but in my opinion he lacks organisational ability. He does not have the kind of competence which can spread the message of the party all over India, which can quickly create elected structures of the party which nobody will be able to blame,” Mr Bhushan said.

Lately the party is seen to be crumbled after many prominent faces left, aam aadmi party kejriwalalleging Kejriwal’s leadership. The public spat between leaders, unnecessary controversies and camp within the party have been damaging core idolism of AAP and it is on a verge to break apart.

Former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi said, “There is indeed a lack of inner party democracy, there is a lack of organisational skills. Voice of dissent and constructive criticism is not appreciated.”

“A coterie is running the show,” she added.

The party has lost its momentum soon after Kejriwal’s unexpected resignation as Delhi Chief Minister in just 49 days in power. According to sources many of its leaders including Yogendra Yadav was not happy with that decision. Even Kejriwal’s decision to not contest in the upcoming Haryana polls, made Bhushans “unhappy”

Defending Kejriwal, party leader Ashutosh said, “AAP is completely in support of Arvind Kejriwal. He is the chosen leader and he will remain.”

But apparently AAP is divided into two “camp” – Kejriwal camp and Yogendra Yadav camp.

Only in June, Yogendra Yadav wrote an email to AAP members saying, “Arvind is turning into a personality cult that can damage an organisation and the leader himself.”

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
