Famous Titanic Violin found in England

The famous Titanic violin has been found in Britain!

Titanic violinThe rosewood violin which belonged to the Wallace Hartley, the band leader who played the hymn “Nearer, My God, To Thee” while Titanic sank in beneath the icy North Atlantic after hitting an iceberg in April 1912, has been found in an attic in England.

The violin was disappeared when its owner Wallace Hartley drowned along with 1,500 passengers of Titanic.

After years of testing, Andrew Aldridge, owner of an auction house ‘Henry Aldridge and Son’ has confirmed that the violin which was found in an attic in Lancashire is indeed the ‘Titanic Violin’.

“The deposit on it and the corrosion on it were compatible with immersion in sea water,” Aldridge told AFP. “We also employed a jewellery expert, who confirmed that the inscriptions on the plaque on the violin were contemporary,” he said.

Aldridge said that they are not considering immediate auction of it. They are in talk several museums across the world.

We are in negotiations with several museums across the world,” Aldridge said.

“It’s an incredible human story.  Wallace Hartley was one of the most important personalities in the story. His bravery was phenomenal. In my opinion, it’s one of the most iconic pieces of memorabilia from the 20th century,” he added.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
