Renowned Carnatic musician U Srinivas passes away

Noted Carnatic musician Uppalapu Srinivas died in Chennai on Friday. He was 45.

He was admitted Apollo Hospital hospital following a liver transplant
“Last night he developed some complications and passed away in the morning,” a daily quoted a source.

Srinivas brought mandolin into Carnatic music and customized the instrument to suit the Carnatic raga.

The government of India was honoured him with Padma Shri awarded in 1998. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2010.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his tribute U Srinivas.
