Chanda Kochhar ranks second in Fortune list of most powerful Asia-Pacific women

According to Fortune list, ICICI Bank chief Chanda Kochhar is the second most powerful women who “shape the new world order” in the Asia-Pacific region. She is behind Australian businesswoman and CEO of Westpac, Gail Kelly.

“More and more businesswomen are taking tougher jobs and helming bigger firms. More than a third of the women on our Asia-Pacific list are making their MPW (most powerful women) debut,” Fortune said.

Along with Kochhar, seven other Indian women have made into Fortune’s 25 powerful women list.

Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson of State Bank of India ranks in 4th position, whole HPCL’s Nishi Vasudeva is in 5th place. Managing Director & CEO of Axis Bank, Shikha Sharma is on 10th position.

The list of 25 also includes Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (19th), National Stock Exchange CEO Chitra Ramkrishna (22nd), Country Head of HSBC – Naina Lal Kidwai (23rd) and TAFE Chairman and CEO Mallika Srinivasan (25th).

Fortune worlds list of most powerful women ranks PepsiCo’s India-born CEO Indra Nooyi in the third place behind IBM Chairman and CEO Ginni Rometty and General Motors CEO Mary Barra.
