OPCW wins 2013 Nobel Peace Prize

 

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons won this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for overseeing Syrian chemical weapons destruction.

Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical WeaponsWith the surprise announcement by Norwegian Nobel Committee, Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai and Congo rape trauma surgeon, Denis Mukwege missed out the Nobel Peace Prize 2013.

The 16-year-old Malala was the frontrunner to win this year’s Nobel.

Hague-based global chemical weapons watchdog, who supervising the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons, bagged $1.2 million prize money.

The prize will be presented in Oslo on December 10.
