Crucial oil refinery freed of IS militants

The Iraqi army combatting the Islamic State militants for a long time now, have been successful in ousting the IS militants from the country’s crucial oil refinery. To secure back this oil refinery from the militants, the army was trying its best from a month and have finally stood successful.

The security forces and volunteers entered the Baiji Refinery from its three Crucial oil refinery freed of IS militants Baiji Refinerygates, according to an IraqiNews.com report. Security officials also stated to Iraqi News, “After clashing with the ISIL terrorists and liberating Beiji district, the security forces supported by the volunteers entered Beiji Refinery from its three gates.”

The Baiji refinery is a crucial oil refinery of Iraq and was captured by the Islamic State militants in the month of June. The army in Iraq was trying to recapture this refinery since a month. It accounts for almost a quarter of Iraq’s oil production, according to a BBC news report.

A U.S top military officer also went on a visit to Iraq and met the U.S soldiers there. Remember, many American troops are assisting the Iraqi army in this operation against the Islamic State militants.
