‘Wife-killer’ on FB convicted of murder

In a bizarre news that surfaced, a Florida man who killed his wife and posted a photo of her dead body on the popular social networking site Facebook, has been found guilty of torture and murder.

Derek Medina, 33, admitted to taking pictures through his camera on his phone and uploading it onto the social media site. In a stint of self-défence, he failed to convince the jury that he had shot Jennifer Alfonso ‘eight times’ in self-defence, after several years of continued abuse.

He stated that his wife was threatening him with a knife when he shot her in their house in Miami, but prosecutors and other officials investigating into the case state that she was cowering on the floor. When he posted the picture, he apparently ‘captioned’ the picture that he expected to go to prison, get a lifetime or be sentenced to death for the killing.

Prosecutors argued that the 27-year-old Jennifer, lay in fear of her life, when she was shot brutally back in August 2013. He had pledged to murder her if she left him and she had told friends she had initially planned and then implement that. Medina now faces the probability of facing a life-time imprisonment.
