Around 4000 Indian nationals have been stranded in Aden,  in the crisis-stricken nation of Yemen, with about just 400 expatriates being rescued by the sea route, according to Syed Akbaruddin, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday.

In his statement to the media, Akbaruddin said,  ‘We are utilising the services of a local ship which will move the Indian nationals. Meanwhile, around 400 Indians have been evacuated from Aden.’ Previously, there had been three announcements made by the Ministry to the Indians in the middle-eastern nation, requesting them to leave the country as soon as possible, owing to the ongoing war. Additional measures for evacuating the trapped include the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself requesting the Saudi King Salman to assist the nation in her operations.

Meanwhile, nurses working in Sana’a,  the capital city of Yemen, said that the situation had degraded to worse with each day passing.
