UN peacekeeper killed; 2 more dead as conflicts arise in Lebano

A missile launched by the Lebanese Hezbollah group struck an Israeli military outfit on Wednesday, killing two soldiers and a Spanish UN peacekeeper, while injuring a couple of others. This apparently was a retaliation for a deadly airstrike attributed to Israel in which six such Hezbollah soldiers had been killed, earlier this month.

An Israeli military spokesperson, Lt. Col. Peter Lerner spoke about the Israeli casualties in the attack but refused to comment further. The military said that it had been responding to the combats as per the Hezbollah positions. The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin  Netanyahu, remarked that the nation would respond ‘forcefully’ in regards to the conflicts.

The attack occurred near Mount Dov and Shebaa farms, a disputed patch of land, which is also where the borders of the three nations- Israel, Lebanon and Syria meet.

This attack has been reported as the most terrific Hezbollah attack on Israel since a summer 2006 war, occurring casualties on both the sides.
