The mass funerals took place on Wednesday amidst mass prayers held across the nation.

Nine Taliban gunmen with explosives strapped to their bodies, stormed the school in the morning yesterday and started shooting at the students and teachers. Some of the female teachers were burned alive in front of students.

The Islamist militant group, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), said the attack was revenge for a military action against them in the northwest.

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif pledged to take action against this barbaric attack.
