BMW Kicks up a Race in Indian Motocycle Market

BMW, a German engine manufacturing company, is one of the best in the world. BMW is known for its performance-oriented luxury cars. BMW is also a leading company in premium car sales worldwide.

BMW entered in the Indian domestic two wheeler market in January this year. BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler brand of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, opened its premium outlets in Mumbai & Delhi for sale of its motor cycles and aims to sell 50 two wheelers by end of 2011. BMW is also planning to introduce a 1000 cc motorcycle.

This German auto giant has introduced six of its bikes, viz. R1200R, S1000RR, R1200GS, K1300, K1600GTL and HP2, so far in India.
Currently BMW superbikes are being imported into India by two authorized dealers, Deutsche Motoren and Navnit Motors.
In an interview with PTI, Mr. Sharad Kachalia, Managing Director of Navnit Motors, said: “We have already sold 23 bikes so far and our target is to sell 50 bikes by December 2011.” “All our models have a good demand…but our two models – S1000 RR and R1200 GS – are witnessing a greater demand. We have six models and all bikes are above 1,000 cc and in the price range Rs 18-25-lakh,”.added Mr.Kachalia.
