NIA detains Mujahideen operative at IGI airport as onlookers watch on

images (4)The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on Friday, detained one of the most pivotal operatives of the militant gang Indian Mujahideen (IM) at the Indira Gandhi International airport, New Delhi, shocking onlookers who watched on as the incident took place.

The man identified as Abdul Wahid Siddibapa, a resident of Bhatkal in Karnataka but an associate of the terror outfit, was held soon after his arrival from Dubai, NIA officials stated in their statement. With his base in Dubai, he has been accused of recruiting people for the his organisation, to plot and carry out terror activities in India. He has also allegedly funded the outfit’s activities from there, they remarked further.

He is also wanted in a case pertaining to a huge conspiracy by IM that consisted of placing attacks on various places in India. He was detained on the basis of a warrant issue and a Red Corner Notice that had been already issued against him.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh refused divulging major details of the arrest, however stating that it was “possible that they (NIA) might have got some information (about him) and hence they took him into custody.”
