Natwar Singh hits out at Gandhis

Reacting to Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s threat to write a book to reveal the truth, former Congress leader and Union Minister Natwar Singh on Friday said that he wished Sonia Gandhi would come up with a book “sooner than later.”

rahul soniaClaiming that the book “has touched a raw nerve” former Gandhi family loyalist Natwar Singh said Rahul, although, “a good person” but lacks the fire to serve as a full-time politician.

“For politics, you must have fire in your belly. I don’t think he has that fire,” Singh told in an interview with NDTV.

Taking a dig at Sonia Gandhi’s foreign origin, former Foreign Minister Singh slammed her for mistreating him over allegations of corruption.

“No Indian would have treated me this way,” Singh said, adding, “We have a tradition that people who are older than you…you give them regard….anyone not born in India would not know this.” “Some part of it is not Indian. Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi would not be like that,” he explained further.

Natwar Singh’s upcoming book ‘One Life is Not Enough: An Autobiographyrajiv natwaris claimed to reveal lots of embarrassing ‘truth’ for Congress and UPA government.

Natwar Singh claimed that it was Rahul Gandhi who stopped Sonia Gandhi from becoming Prime Minister in 2004. Singh also supported former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s media advisor Sanjaya Baru’s allegations that Sonia had access to the government files. In his book, Singh said that officer in PMO, Pulok Chatterjee, used to take the files to Sonia Gandhi.

Reacting to the claim Sonia yesterday said, “I will write my own book and then you will come to know everything. I am serious about this and I will be writing.”

onelifeisnotenoughNatwar Singh also claimed that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had sent troops to Sri Lanka without consulting his cabinet and he mishandled the issue which later led to his assassination.

“I asked him about it. He (Gandhi) said the President (Jayewardene) has said that there will be a coup tonight and I need your help and unless help arrives immediately, the situation will go out of hand,” Natwar Singh said.

“But he knew little about the problem. PMs should not get into the nitty-gritty … He seemed to be in a rush. He thought there was a simple solution available,” Singh added by saying, “He was not incompetent. He was so trusting. A politician should not be so trusting.”

Rejecting Congress party’s allegations of ‘betray’, Singh said at least “50 Congressmen” called him to congratulate him for “telling the truth” in his upcoming book.
