Sonia Gandhi says she’ll write her own book to answer Natwar Singh’s claim

Congress President Sonia Gandhi today slammed former external affairs minister Natwar Singh for claiming that it was Rahul Gandhi who stopped her from becoming Prime Minister in 2004.

In his autobiography ‘One Life is Not Enough: An Autobiography‘, which will be released next week, Natwar Singh claimed that “Rahul was totally against her mother becoming PM. He said she would be killed like his father natwar_singh_sonia_gandhi_and grandmother and as a son he would not allow her to become the PM. He was very adamant and was prepared to take any step to prevent his mother from being PM.”

Reacting to the Natwar Singh’s allegations, Sonia Gandhi said that she would write a book to clarify everything.

“I will write my own book and then you will come to know everything,” Sonia said adding, “I am serious about this and I will be writing.”

“I can’t be hurt, I have seen my mother in law riddled by bullets, my husband dead…I am far from getting hurt with these things…Let them continue to do this it will not affect me…They can continue to do this if they so please,” she added.

onelifeisnotenoughOnce a Gandhi family loyalist, Natwar Singh is set to embarrass the Congress leadership with his upcoming autobiography in which Singh has claimed to reveal lots of internal party “secret”.

Natwar Singh was expelled from the party over ‘oil-for-food’ scam.

Rejecting Singh’s claim, Congress spokesman Ajay Maken said, “It has become fashionable to sensationalize the contents of a book with the sole aim of ensuring better sales and free publicity. This is yet another such exercise. Any comment on it will be a futile exercise.”

Singh also supported former prime minister Manmohan Singh’s former media advisor Sanjaya Baru’s allegations that Sonia had access to the government files. In his book, Singh said that officer in PMO Pulok Chatterjee, used to take the files to Sonia Gandhi.

Party general secretary Digvijaya Singh hit out at Natwar Singh for his claim.

“Natwar Singh’s allegations don’t put him in a good light. His son is a BJP MLA; he has been across many parties; that point has to be borne in mind. It is possible that he is saying all this to create a platform for his son, It doesn’t matter whether Sonia Gandhi listened to her son or the MPs; what matters is she didn’t become the PM when she could have,” Digvijaya Singh said.
