WEEKLY BOLLYWOOD RUNDOWN

Though the rains are pouring heavily, that hasn’t dampened the industry, after all, it is Bollywood at we are talking about. So let us get straight to business-

Top Newsmakers:

The rains may have kept you down and wishing you were in your bed all day long, but that was not the case with these celebrities as they made heads turn with their work, press meetings or rape comments.

1.       Salman Khan- I cannot even think of starting this list with mentioning Bhaijaan. While meeting with the press for the promotion of his upcoming movie Sultan, they actor compared his wrestling and acting experience to that of a girl being raped. This did not go down well with many people and we absolutely see why. Salim Khan was quick to apologise on the child-like remarks made by his son, but the damage had already been done.

2.       Sarabjit Team- Sarabjit was a delight for any cinema goer with stunning performances. It was highly appreciated at this years’ Cannes as well. And it doesn’t look like the team wants to stop just there. Omung Kumar revealed that they will be sending Sarabjit as an entry to the Oscars, independently or in race with other films. There will be other films competing to represent our country, and the Oscar Panel will have the final say in who makes the cut. Well done team Sarabjit!

3.       IIFA begins- Who does not enjoy destination award shows? Bollywood certainly does! The affairs begun in Madrid this week and boy, was that a star studded affair.  From Priyanka Chopra to Deepika Padukone, from Technical Awards to the Green Carpet, Bollywood seems to be taking Madrid by a storm.

What’s new?

Keeping oneself updated about what is going on in the industry can indeed be a tiring thing considering how many new trailers, songs and film announcements take place in a single week. But you have nothing to worry about because we have all that’s new right here for you.

1.       Inferno- I know, it is not Bollywood, but come on! Who is not excited to see Irrfan Khan share screen space with Tom Hanks in a mystery thriller based on one of the most popular books of all time? Directed by Ron Howard the movie is set to release this October. And if the trailer is anything to go by, (and I am going by it), it is going to be one heck of a cinematic journey. If you haven’t checked the trailer out yet, I firmly insist that you do.Inferno

2.       Mohenjo Daro- Okay so this is not exactly a very accurate depiction of historical facts but then again, cinematic license! The trailer is like any Ashutosh Gowariker film, grand in every aspect. Beautiful head gears (why again?), lovely locations and obviously the new pairing of Pooja Hegde and Hrithik Roshan make this one a good trailer. But how much of history can you and do you want to edit!

Telly Land Tales:

Why should the small screen be left out from the buzz? Here is what the talk of the town in the Telly Land was (much of a tongue twister wasn’t it)-

1.       Mona Singh starrer Kawach- This new show has already beaten the long running Star Plus show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein to become the number one show this week. According to the latest BARC ratings, Kawach has sealed the top spot this week.

2.       Ankita Lokhande and Kushaal Tandon Photo- After breaking up with longtime boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput, this single star was seen enjoying a nice meal with Bigg-Boss fame Kushal Tandon.

Ankita Lokhande Two pictures of the two of them sparked so many rumors and headlines that for a minute there I actually thought there was something serious going on there. Kushal Tandon did take a jab at a newspaper report for making wild assumptions. Maybe a picture just means a picture after all.
