Chalo Dilli: The Movie Review

Director: Shashant Shah
Producer: Krishika Lulla, Kavita Bhupathi Chadda
Cast: Lara Dutta, Vinay Pathak
Music:  Anand Raj Anand, Gourov Dasgupta, Sachin Gupta, Rohit Kulkarni, Roshan Balu
The story revolves around a hilarious journey by two completely different natured strangers.  They are forced to travel together from Jaipur to Delhi by road and train after their plane took emergency landing in Jaipur due to some technical problem. Mihika Banerjee was in hurry to meet her husband in Delhi, which is why she was forced to take a same cab with Manu Gupta to reach Delhi. After knowing that the driver is not sleeping for hours and not able to drive normally, Manu took charge and took the wrong route. The situation got worsen when cab faced break down and Mihika found that it would be the most difficult journey of her life, with Manu, the person who never takes anything seriously in his life.
Chalo Dilli
Lara Dutta will surprise everyone with her awesome acting. Her portraying of Mihika Banerjee, a Sophisticated, corporate banker, high-heel fashioned from Mumbai rocks and also her comic timing was perfect.  Vinay Pathak aka Manu Gupta, a Delhi-based saree shop owner, make justice in his role and come off the edge with his witty sense of comedy!

First half of the movie was good, with some amazing dialog and comedy. The second half is very slow, boring and in absence of solid story it falls flat. Unnecessary scenes, songs and stretch of screenplay make boring at time. Some of the scenes in the second half take audience disconnected specially the climax part although it was emotional and sensitive but still it was not matched up with the rest of the story.
Akshay Kumar plays role of a husband of Mihika Banerjee in his cameo appearance.

The story is very conventional and there is nothing new offered by the director, Shashant Singh. It seems Chalo Dilli was influenced a lot by the successful flicks like Jab we met, Due Date, Bheja Fry etc.
All in all Chalo Dilli is an average and is fun to watch. One can watch Chalo Dilli for good comedy, good acting and superb chemistry by the protagonist Vinay pathak & Lara Dutta.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
