Movie Review: Transformers – Age of Extinction

Director: Michael Bay

Writer: Ehren Kruger

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor

After 3 back to back action packed Transformer series, director Michael Bay is back with another action pack movie Transformers – Age of Extinction. If you are a diehard Transformers fan then this is the movie for you despite some boring & long first half. However, in the second half, the movie took off awesome and thrilling pace and action sequences. Being a diehard Transformers fan I liked movie a lot.

So… lets review the story… Movie kicked off 22 years after last war between  Mark WahlbergDecepticons and Autobots. Chicago was almost destroyed and USA had paid a lot after this war. After the much damage  they stopped working with Autobots. CIA has started hunting Deceptioncs but then suddenly they started killing Autobots with the help of some villain bots (not decepticons!) under Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer) and James Savoy (Titus Welliver). Meanwhile, Joshua Joyce, an innovator who created transforming tech robots by capturing technology from dead autobots and decepticons supplied by CIA, committed a blunder by mistakenly created tech robot of dead Megatron.

The story took an interesting turn, when a widow inventor but failed man Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlber) who was living with his 17 years old daughter Tessa (Nikola Peltz) in Texas, created different robots from old things. He bought an old truck and tried to repair it but at the time of repairing he came to know that the truck was not a normal truck but was an Autobot (Optimus Prime). He repaired it but his assistant informed CIA about Prime and here movie started off with action and dhamaka scenes. The Movie would take you to China and autobots Transformers Age of Extinction reviewfights with villain bots over there. I am stopping myself here… If I continue telling the whole story then what will you do in the theater :).

Visual and sound effects of movie are as expected awesome. It is worth to watch this movie in 3D. 3D effects are awesome at some places but if we think about whole movie then it was above average effects.

If we think about acting, Mark Wahber and Nikola Peltz did good job in the first half. Jack Reynor was decent too. But if we think of overall acting then Bay fails to deliver what we expect from this movie.

Watch it or not: If you are die hard Transformers fan (like me!) you will enjoy it a lot. For others it is too long and a bit tedious movie. However, all in all you will enjoy this movie.

My Verdict: I am going with 3.5 stars only cutting points for making first half boring and long.
