Movie Review: The Theory of Everything (2014)

The film is about Stephen Hawking’s achievements and his personal life. Anyone who has some basic idea about science, universe knows about Stephen Hawking. But this movie was more about the personal life of this genius man. The film takes us to the venerable man who has very morbid presence. The movie made us realise that there is no barrier. The barrier is only in our mind. If we want to accomplish something nothing can stand in our way. Not even if you are not able to make a single physical movement.

the-theory-of-everythingThe movie starts with a brilliant young scientist Hawking, in love with a beautiful young girl Jane. But Hawking was diagnosed with motor neuron disease, which will slowly ruin all of Hawkings physical movement. Jane would almost force him into marriage knowing fully well about the consequences. And after they had 3 children, Jane was frustrated taking care of her paralytic husband. The film on one sphere shows success of Hawking as a physicist and his venerable personal and family life.

What excited me in this movie was the person Stephen Hawking and his life… sometime we want to be great. But great things r not done by impulses but by series of small things bought together. I felt both his wives took decisions on impulses. They were more in love with a genius man rather than a paralytic creature .. Of course Jane had great contribution in Hawking’s life – Perhaps the reason he was alive. But her contributions were by the sense of duty rather than love.

Yes it was not possible for a young woman to continuously deny her needs but she should have realized the same when she insisted on getting married to Hawking. She knew exactly what was coming was not a war but defeat. And then she finally married Jonarthan. Jane was replaced by Elane in Hawkings life and Jane created the space. She was frustrated with her life, understandably so because 24×7 you see a dead man moving beside u n not a genius …Same thing goes for all of us. We can be great for a time being but to stay great requires constant effort and it’s not possible always to bear the pain of greatness so we should not try to b great in the first instance itself …There is no shame to b ordinary. Because deep down we r all at some point just “ordinary”.
