Real hero “Captain Phillips” makes a reel life hero out of Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks next “Captain Phillips” is based on a cargo ship captain Richard Phillip’s real life experience of survival after being held hostage by Somali pirates. he was kept captured for 4 days and was later rescued. He was with the pirates in the 18 foot lifeboat. He kept on playing mind games and eventually Navy SEALs rescued the captain. His fight was not only for his own survival but for saving his crew.

Philips wrote a book on his tough days entitled “A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea”.

Columbia Pictures acquired the rights of the book to Phillips in 2009. On 2011, Sony Pictures Film announced the film naming “Captain Phillips” starring Tom Hanks in the lead.

Directed by Paul Greengrass (“The Bourne Ultimatum,” “United 93”), the movie is scheduled to hit the screen internationally on 11th October.
