Teen Mumbai bassist Jeremy Fernand found dead on railway tracks

It’s a sad day for the indie music industry. Jeremy Fernand, a 19 year-old bassist, and formerly a member of the band Strike Three has died in what is initially considered as a railway accident. According to Rolling Stone India, a motorman found the Mumbai musician on the tracks between Vile Parle and Andheri Stations on Sunday evening. The railway police took Fernand to Juhu’s Cooper Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Fernand was a bassist for the pop rock band Strike Three, which was founded by a few of his peers from St Andrews College. Although he quit the band earlier this year (he had moved to Bengaluru to work at a marketing company), his band mates had asked him to play with them for a Hard Rock Cafe gig. In a Rolling Stone Report, Strike Three keyboardist Brent Tauro says, “We were just like, ‘Let’s ask Jeremy if he is free,’ and so he came to Mumbai. The eerie part about this whole thing is that he went around promoting it saying, “This is my last gig.”
