Happy Birthday, Amitabh!

The legendary Amitabh Bachachan who has acted in more than 180 films in a career spread across over more than 40 years has turned 70 today.

He was born on 11th october 1942 in Allahabad to the famous poet Harivanshrai Bachchan and Smt.Teji Bachchan.

“Bachchan” is actually the penname assumed by his father Sri Harivanshrai Bachchan; the original surname was “Srivastava”.

Amitab Bachhan’s first film was “Saat Hindustani” (1969) directed by K.A.Abbas. He won the National Film Award for Best Newcomer for his performance.

Amitabh’s wife Jaya Bhaduri was a famous and versatile actress herself but gave up acting after her marriage.

Abhishek Bachchan, The famous hero and heart throb of many of the present generation, is their son and is married to Aishwarya Rai, the famous actress.

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya have a daughter too: Shweta Nanda.
