Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were married in a private ceremony at French hamlet of Correns on Saturday.
Pitt’s representative confirmed the news on Thursday, that Pitt (50) and Jolie (39) exchanged the vows at small chapel at Provence’s Chateau Miraval in presence of close family members and friends. A judge from California was present and handed over the marriage license.
According to a statement from the family “Angelina was walked down the aisle by her eldest sons Maddox and Pax. Zahara and Vivienne threw petals, gathered from the garden. Shiloh and Knox were the ring bearers.”
“In the days before coming to France, and as citizens of California, Brad and Angelina filled out their paperwork and obtained a marriage licence from a local judge, who also travelled to France to conduct the ceremony at Chateau Miraval. They are therefore married under Californian law,” the statement added.
Earlier the couple who popularly known as Brangeliana, refused to say when they get officially married. Pitt once said that they will not marry uintil “everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.”
However, in recent years the couple was considering made it official because of their children’s demands. They announced their engagement in 2012 after 7 years of living together.
‘‘It’s an exciting prospect, even though for us, we’ve gone further than that,’’ Pitt told in an interview with Associated Press in 2012. ‘‘But to concretize it in that way, it actually means more to me than I thought it would. It means a lot to our kids.’’
This was Pitt’s second marriage. He was earlier married to Jennifer Aniston whom he cheated with Jolie and divorced in 2005. It was third marriage for Jolie. Earlier she was married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller and actor-director Billy Bob Thornton.
The couple has six children together -13-year-old Maddox, 10-year-old Pax, 9-year-old Zahara, 8-year-old Shiloh, and 6-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
