DSC_7778When did you discover an actor in you?

Acting just happened to me. I started out as a singer and got trained in Indian and Western classical. In college I got active in theatre and by end of it I started doing a television serial called ‘Pancham’. People started liking my work and now accident of coming into acting has become by life.

How has acting influenced your life?

I never thought to be an actor and now acting is what I am. Initially in theatre I never took it that seriously but the appreciation of audience and people around me boost me up with confidence to go ahead with this for rest of my life and now I feel I can’t do anything else other than this.

What has been the biggest turning point in your life?

Death of my very close friend last year had been a terrible turn in my life. A feeling of losing someone closer has changed my experience of looking life. It has turned me completely as a person and brought me close to the reality of life. I got to know that what if you ignore the bitter truth of life, it will come to you internally as well being a human.

Is there anything you’d like to explore in terms of your life?

I love to compose music it’s very close to my heart, even I like to travel; I do socializing a lot, admire to meet new people and rest all random things like reading books and others stuff.

DSC04076Comedy is considered the most difficult genre today, do you feel the same?

It is not difficult at all. Comic role always make me feel excited and it has a beautiful quality about itself. I never see what character I am playing instead I concentrate more on portraying myself more into real. I do that clean shading and try to prove myself to what director wants. I feel every genre has its own importance and an actor should discover himself in all as it gives a feeling of living every color and emotions of life.

You started off with theatre and today you are the busiest theatre actors in the industry. How much has theatre shaped you up as a performer?

Yeah definitely, I truly enjoy doing theatre and it’s turned up as my life now. I think that camera and theatre is different, theatre polishes the art and talent of an artist but it doesn’t make any artist completely suitable for the camera.

You’ve tasted the experience of doing theatre, television and films and also tried your hand at VJ-ing. Which one is your favorite and why?

I don’t have favorite, Theatre definitely is very close to my heart and has been most satisfying I started through it and was my first exposure. When I come to stage it’s my life for all that moments, whereas films and television always gives an attention of audience and directors to an artist which gives him fame. All the forms have their own fun and style, I cannot compare any with other.

What is Ankho Dekhi is all about?

This is Rajat Kapoor’s best motion, the story is very warm and will slowly grow on you. He has such a keen sense of cinema and art that he has shown Namit Dasvery great understanding of life through this film. I am played a character called Ajju who’s a very simple Delhi guy who brought up with the understanding of job, money and life. But then he wants to marry Bauji’s (Sanjay Mishra) daughter Rita and there starts the story. This is more & less I can tell you about the movie. It’s very real and shows the real life. For me it’s not a film it s an experience.

What are your future projects?

I am looking forward for my next film that is ‘Phataak’ which is completely based on gally (street) cricket. Movie is holding all the colourful essence in it and has beautifully captured the soul of real Indian street cricket. All the characters are young which is making it more refreshing.
