Race for Indian Foreign Entry for Oscar gets pace

Ship of TheseusThe race this time is severe. Quite a few numbers of films have been getting the odds from the critics and the acclaims worldwide. The main contenders include The Lunchbox, Ship of Theseus and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Kai Po Che!, English Vinglish, Madras Cafe  and the Kannada movie Lucia.

Be it a weirdly-woven sensitive romance or mind-boggling philosophy or biopic – the subjects are fascinating and cinematically applaud-able. Most surprisingly, many of the The lunchboxmainstream commercial movies have achieved that standard and critical acclaims to have fetched crowd as also to do justice artistically. Say for the comeback movie of Sridevi or John Abraham starrer Madras Café – these fully commercial movies dealt with the topics so sensitively it gained kudos from the critics worldwide.

Now, before the main fights begin – the domestic race has to be won. The Film Federation of India (FFI), which selects the movie that will represent India, will sift through the applications starting 17 September and announce its decision on 22 September.
