A sad news of repercussion of depression entered Bollywood recently. It came as a shock when everyone came to know about the suicidal death of national award winning B.A Pass movie actress, Shikha Joshi.
She was passing through a phase of struggle which everyone has to face in order to succeed in their respective fields. But it went beyond the level, which finally propelled the actress to commit suicide. She was found in her flat located in Versova on Saturday, lying in the pool of blood with her throat slit open. Police said that dearth of work and opportunity was the main cause behind her suicide.
Ajay Bahl, director of BA Pass, told HT, “Shikha came across as a very happy-go-lucky person when I worked with her in BA Pass. She auditioned for us and we liked her. She was a beautiful actor and I planned to work with her in one of my upcoming projects. In fact, she even came to my office three to four months ago.”
But, later on, a recording by Madhu Bharti, her flat mate, was revealed. Instead of taking her to the hospital, Madhu forced her to open up about the situation so as to get out of the legal mess. Shikha would have been alive today if medications were provided to her at the correct time. In the recording, Shikha has named certain people including Dr.Sharma, against whom Shikha earlier had filed complaint accusing him of molestation. Also, two years after that Shikha and her brother were arreseted for hurling stones at Dr.Sharma`s residence. According to Madhu`s statement, Shikha thought that this molestation case ended her career and was fed up with her life.
Shilpa Shukla, her co-actress in BA Pass, told Bombay Times that Shikha`s sudden death was a shock for her and she was the person who always made an effort to stay in touch. She added that there was something about Shikha which made her stand out and to imagine that she took this step because of no work coming is really difficult.
The true results and causes of her suicidal attempt are yet to come up, as no suicide note was left by her. But the shocking string of incidences has truly left the industry awestruck.
