Victory to Be Remade By Doug Liman

The high-voltage World Cup 2014 is having impact on Hollywood also. The buzz is Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman is in talks with Warner Bros. to remake the 1981 soccer movie Victory.

The original starred Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone, and Pelé. Gavin O’Connor. The plot revolves around how World War II Allied POWs who use a “friendly” match against the German national team to make their escape from Nazi-occupied Paris.

The original directed by John Huston was a path-breaking movie in US. It was that time when US originally experienced the soccer boom.

And, this time, the buzz at the time of US entry into the knock-out stage marks an eerie similarity.
