Marathi writer Laxman Mane charged with rape of three Dalit women


Laxman Mane abscondedNoted Marathi writer and recipient of Padma Shri award Laxman Mane, who was charged with raping three Dalit women, has been absconding and police has launched a search mission to trace the writer.

“He is still absconding and police teams are investigating the matter,” a police official told IANS.

Mane has received Sahitya Akademi Award in 1981 and Padma Shri in 2009.

Three Dalit women, who worked at Mane runs School at Jakatwadi, Satara, lodged complaint against the 63-year old writer for raping them between 2003 and 2010.
