Khaled Hosseini Set to release his third novel on May 21

The famous Afghan-American novelist Khaled Hosseini is all set to release his next and third novel ‘And the Mountains Echoed’ on May 21. The publisher Riverhead Books (imprint of Penguin Group, US) has confirmed the news on Monday.

Hosseini’s debut novel The Kite Runner was published in 2003 and it was an international bestseller with the paperback edition listed in New York Times’ best-seller list for continuous two years. His second book A Thousand Splendid Suns was released in 2007 and stayed 70 straight weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list. Together the two books have sold more than 38 million copies globally.

Earlier in the week Hosseini issued a statement regarding the theme of his new novel ‘And the Mountains Echoed’.

“I am forever drawn to family as a recurring central theme of my writing. My earlier novels were at heart tales of fatherhood and motherhood. My new novel is a multi-generational family story as well, this time revolving around brothers and sisters, and the ways in which they love, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for each other. I am thrilled at the chance to share this book with my readers,” Hosseini said.
