Book Review: When I Found You… I Found Myself

Story-in-Short: They first met when they were just twelve, and then they kept meeting again and again, each time wanting to confess their feelings for each other but it never came to such a pass for Tiya and Aarav.

whenIfounduFalling apart and bowing down to the miseries of a broken family and a daunting past, at 24, they decided to move on. But life pulled out one trick after another to bring them back to each other and give one last chance to do what they couldn’t do in the past twelve years. A choice had to be made and there was no going back.

Could they learn from the echoing footsteps of their parents and speak their heart out or the fear of saying the unsaid killed it once again for them?

Did their time to fall in love come, or like always, they met, greeted and departed to part forever?

In my view: Life is extremely complex. We never come to know why a particular thing happened. It takes time to perceive and overcome incidents in life. Some incidents leave an indelible mark on one’s mind which leads to depression. A depressed person feels low all the time and wishes to come around people full of optimism. Under depression people tend to lose their real self but as they struggle to move on they come across people who cheer them up, make them feel good. And after finding such people, they begin to discover their themselves; their real selves! Here I am done reading When I Found You I Found Myself, an enchanting novel by author Sankalp Kohli.

The book begins by introducing Aarav Mehra, an active school youngster who is all set to start new academic year. Having passed and promoted to sixth grade, Aarav feels good and gets excited to enjoy his school life. But this year, something is set to happen.

As Aarav’s glance falls on an innocent newcomer, during their school assembly, he feels something within him pounding and throbbing. Complete different feelings engulf him and he is unable get his glance off her. This charming girl is Tiya.

Tiya is an innocent student and an alluring girl. She keeps low as she witnesses an ugly fight between her parents, practically every day at her house. Soon, both Tiya and Aarav realize that they feel for each other but they never confess their feelings. Both move ahead in life with hidden feelings for each other. But occasions come when destiny provides them an opportunity to do what they couldn’t do all in these years. So, what do you think will happen? Will they make use of this opportunity? Will they settle ahead with each other in life? What is in store for them – love or hatred?

Questions tend to tickle but answers are only hidden in the story! I am sure you want to know more about their journey, right? Yeah! So, grab your copies of the book immediately, and take pleasures of reading it!

Over-all: The cover of the book is good and the title is amazing. The narration of the story is wonderful as it successfully holds a reader’s attention. The story moves on a comfortable pace which will lead readers to imbibe everything pretty well. The author went about with the story fantastically until the conclusion part. Here, the author should have extended the story further instead of concluding it as its ending goes a bit abrupt.
