Book Review: Cheer up!

Story-in-Short:

Ishani, a young, pretty and multi-talented girl with a carefree attitude, lives in a world of her own. A girl with small little dreams, she carries a happy-go-lucky nature. Always surrounded by friends, she loves to help people and is a quick learner. When she gradually tries to find a place in this messed up world, everyone around her starts to lure her as she trusts easily and can’t discriminate between right and wrong. She often falls for masked personalities and camouflaged individuals but it is life, right? It has its own ways to teach its disciples. . She makes efforts to bring a smile on every face and wishes someone would do the same for her.

Things come to a halt when she falls in love with an over-possessive guy, Cheer Up book review Abhay. They part and they meet again. In the meantime, she forms a bond with another girl. Her sole respite is her best friend, Armaan, but then, she has already been hurt, deceived and broken beyond repair. This book is all about her journey of love and friendship; a story of innocence, guilt, pleasure, mistakes, break-ups, success, failure and frustration.

Can a completely broken girl emerge as a winner at the end? Will she be able to unveil the masks? What does it take to judge right from wrong? What surprises life holds in its box for her? Is it ever going to be easy for her to choose or will she continue to stay in her dilemmas?

In My View:

Life is precious and every single person wants it to be glorious. People’s expectations from life are vivid but no one can predict destiny and life. Happiness, depression, bewilderment and clarity are all part and parcel of life. But whatever happens, our motto needs to be firm on moving on without losing hopes. Here I am done reading Cheer-up! The Worst is yet to come by author Ila Garg.

Ishani – the protagonist of the story is a college student blessed by such friends who try to get the best out of her. Abhay is the boy in whom she finds her love. One fine day, both of them confess their feelings for each other, marking the beginning of their relationship. Ishani is a good looking, active and a friendly girl and many of her male friends in college have a crush on her. But Ishani has her feelings for Abhay. The relationship that seems to be perfect suddenly starts undergoing problems after Abhay demands something that Ishani rejects. Finding things difficult, Ishani goes through a trauma.

Mustering courage, she moves ahead in life. But the path of life is never full of roses. There are too many thorns which stand challenging. And overpowering them is important. Ishani tries to overcome those bad days but history repeats and she accosts difficulties at different stages. But if winter comes, can spring be far away? Now to find out the actual cheer uphappenings in detail and how Ishani dealt the hitches in her life, one needs to grab copies of the book and dive into the story.

The book brings to vision a story of a girl who tastes both sweet and bitter days of her life. Like every other person, she cherishes those sweet days but equally hates the bitter ones. And despite going through some really challenging days, she lives her life. Ishani’s story reminds me a quote by King Martin Luther Junior who said: “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hopes.”

Over-all:

The cover of the book shows a girl looking up at the sky. The purple colour on the cover page signifies a compassionate story. The whole story is coherent and has been narrated in a comprehensible manner. The plots of the story are perfect. The poetries add up to the essence of the story and explicitly articulate Ishani’s feelings. At a few places the author could have added spice to the story as the required condiments feel to be missing. At these places the story becomes fragile. Also, the arguments between Ishani and Abhay appear quite similar both the times and there could have been a change in it. I am sure that the authoress will consider these things in all her future projects.
