Book Review: Simple Plane Love

At last a book in the romantic genre whose protagonist is not a sappy, helpless and cutesy girl.

Meet Captain Meera Khanna, a strong and independent woman who doesn’t need no man to get things going for her. Meera is an airline pilot with Aeroflot Aviation, a company based in Manila. A beautiful flat, an amazing boss, Meera is living the perfect life.  She loves her job which involves flying to exotic destinations, carrying out rescue operations during typhoonswhich are pretty commonplace in Philippines. She feels homesick once in a while having left behind her mom and two of her best friends back in India.

519Fy9tKZXL._SX327_BO1,204,203,200_Maneuvering a flight from bad storm, Meera injures her leg and is forced to take a leave of few days. Bored out of her mind, Meera invites her soul sister and best friend, Dee, short for Diana to spend a few days with her in Subic Bay, a picturesque beauty of a place in Philippines. While holidaying in the Bay, they encounter a charming and handsome Indian sailor named Aryaman who falls head over heels for not Meera but Diana. You weren’t expecting that were you? But fret not, Meera’s best friend Aditya crashes their holiday as he comes to surprise Meera. Now the situation between Aditya and Meera becomes really tense for a while when Aditya opens up about his feelings for Meera. He tells her how he wants to be more than best friends but Meera is confused about her feelings for him and turns him down. Adi is heartbroken but he is also a good friend and is his normal self with Meera. While all this is going on between Adi and Meera, Diana goes and gets engaged to Aryaman!

And now there’s a wedding in the book! I must say this reminds me a lot of the wedding scene from the movie, YehJawaniHaiDewaani! The ambience, the environment, everything reminds you of the RanbirKapoor and DeepikaPadukone blockbuster. Aryaman, a boy from a rich Rajput household and Diana, a famous socialite. The way he pops the question is just adorable. And now back to the wedding, PriyankaLuthra has written the wedding scene beautifully, right from describing all the rituals to the different costumes that the people wear during the wedding.

As a debutante author, PriyankaLuthra has done an amazing job. All the characters have been described perfectly and the storyline is quite engaging.
