Book Review: A Million Seconds too Late

Story-in-Short:

A tycoon’s daughter is murdered in her sleep. Was she the intended victim, or was the actual target her twin sister? What do the mysterious activities of the murdered girl’s former employers have to do with her death? These and other vexing questions lead the investigating police officers into a labyrinth of plots and sub-plots which appear to converge into a sinister and earth shaking conspiracy located within the tycoon’s own industrial empire.

In my view:

Many-a-times what we consider as minor and trifling, ends up being immense. Hearing about a murder case is nothing new for we people who read and hear a-million-seconds-too-late-about them through newspapers and television news. Although the method or motive of murders may sound same to us, for police, cracking down every case is a crucial job. Author Joygopal Podder, in his novel A million Seconds Too Late, brings a completely amazing and an equally thrilling story.

Sujata Malhotra, wife of reputed business tycoon Devesh Malhotra wakes up to a sudden sound in the middle of the night. While her husband and step son Rajat are out of town, Sujata heads in search of the place from where the sound erupted. As she makes a guess of the source, she moves towards Anamika’s bedroom only to be left shocked and dumbstruck. She discovers Anamika lying on her bed, soaking in blood.

The police are immediately called in as soon as family members learn about this murder. This high profiled murder case, that too inside the secured Malhotra Mansion, becomes news as media pursues the story. Perceptibly, the police are brought under pressure to quickly crack this case. But is this just a mere murder case or is it something else? Lot of theories, regarding Anamika’s murder, revolve around as police try to crack the case. From one clue to the other, police officials make quick moves in an attempt to catch hold of the criminal.

But as inputs unfold in the course of this investigation, many shocking and scandalous things come into picture. A thought of it being an ordinary murder, turns down. To find what exactly happens, you will have to dive into this stimulating story of a murder which makes a flabbergasting expose.

Over-all: The cover of the book is not that intriguing and it could have been better. But for heaven’s sake readers, don’t judge this book by its cover as the story inside is outstanding. It has a captivating title and an amazing plot. The story has an absorbing narration. It moves at a fast and comprehensible pace.

This is certainly the best book that I’ve read till the date. I just didn’t feel like putting it down and could complete it in a single setting. Awesome; really awesome! A Million Seconds Too Late is highly recommended to my readers.
